Der Künstler Jo Kley wurde 1964 in Ulm geboren.
1981 absolvierte er in seiner Heimatstadt eine Lehre als Steinmetz und Steinbildhauer. Von 1991 bis 1997 studierte er Bildende Kunst und Skulptur (MA) an der Muthesius School of Fine Arts in Kiel unter Professor Jan Koblasa. Seit 2012 ist Jo Kley Doktor der Freien Künste (DLA) an der Universität Pécs in Ungarn bei Professor Colin Foster. Bereits seit 1995 ist Dr. Jo Kley freischaffender Künstler. Als Teilnehmer, Organisator und Kurator war und ist Dr. Jo Kley an zahlreichen Bildhauersymposien im In- und Ausland beteiligt und auf unzähligen Ausstellungen präsent. Über 100 seiner Monumentalskulpturen befinden sich in Deutschland und fast Weltweit verteilt im öffentlichen Raum. Im Jahr 1998 startete Jo Kley das Kunstkonzept ‚KleyCity’, das monumentale Turmskulpturen in bislang 24 Ländern präsentiert. Dr. Jo Kley lebt in Kiel und sein Atelier befindet sich in einer Kieskuhle am Rande der Holsteinischen Schweiz, die durch die Eiszeitliche Gestein Verschiebungen (vor rund 22 000 bis 21 000 Jahren) entstanden ist. |
